Specialty Programs

Weekly Specialty Camps

Campers Grades 2 – 8

Weekly specialty camps enable you to customize your child’s summer activities to suit their interests and your family’s schedule.

Camp By The Sea Specialty Camps offer a myriad of activities the entire summer that each camper can enjoy. Specialty Camps focus on one topic or specific field of interest for the entire week. These weeks are designed to provide an intense exposure and are a great way for campers to add even more variety to their summer experience.

Half Day Specialty Camps are either 9:00 am-12:30 pm or 12:30 pm-4:00 pm, as indicated. Full Day Specialty Camps will have their chosen specialty camp in the morning and then join their Camp By The Sea friends for afternoon activities.

Specialty Camps are open to JCC Members and Guests and DO NOT require JCC Membership.  They are billed separately and independently from Camp By the Sea weeks.

Grandparent & Family Guardianship Assistance

Camp By The Sea is excited to welcome a new program that will enable grandparents and other adults raising children an opportunity to join camp this summer.

We know that grandparents and older adults face a challenges as primary caregiver to their grandchildren, or foster children. Respite care options, particularly when school is not in session are essential to encouraging the long-term health of the caregiver(s). The JCC’s Camp By The Sea respite camp program will provide one week of camp during the summer months. During these times caregivers can choose from one week of Camp By The Sea during the summer or one week of winter or spring break camp during the school year.  PLUS FREE bus transportation is available from Mays Landing, Northfield and Atlantic City during specific weeks.

Eligible grandparents raising grandchildren would be given the opportunity to select the week of their choice to attend Camp By The Sea’s day camp from 9am – 4pm of the selected week.

Are you eligible?

In order to qualify for the Respite Care Program you must be an Atlantic County Resident age 55+ and you MUST be the primary care giver for  the child entering Camp By The Sea.

Tikvah Division: Special Needs

Camp By The Sea at the JCC special needs inclusion camp program, Tikvah, provides accommodations that enable children with disabilities to fully participate with age-appropriate peers at camp. Campers in the Tikvah program span a variety of intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Camp By The Sea offers our Tikvah campers one-on-one assistance or two-to-one assistance. Integrated within camp, a specialized counselor helps each child fully maximize his/her experience. Counselors are hired and trained directly by our leadership staff team and works closely with Interactive Kids. All camp staff receives training from our Interactive Kids Partnership about creating an inclusive camp environment.

Camp By The Sea and Interactive kids partnership has allowed the Tikvah program to grow. As part of our inclusion program you will have access to highly trained professionals who are here to help make transitions into camp smooth and successful. Interactive Kids is an ABA Program and Service organization that assist in the on-boarding, staff training, and daily camp life for our campers in the inclusion program.
