The Camp By The Sea team is comprised of school teachers, college students majoring in childhood development, former campers, and preschool educators. Along with giving campers a fun and exciting summer, our goal is to provide kids with positive role models and self-esteem. Our team knows that the invaluable experiences, friendships and skills from summer camp can last a lifetime.

Austin Rabut

Camp By The Sea Assistant Director

Austin graduated from Stockton University with a Hospitality and Tourism Degree in 2019. He has worked at Camp By The Sea for three summers in several divisions including our amazing Travel Camp.  From August 2019 – February 2020 Austin worked in Thailand teaching English as a second language to children ages 9 – 13 years old. Austin has been working hard planning an amazing camp experience for your child this summer.

This year Austin will lead Camp By The Sea as we celebrate our 75th Anniversary with an emphasis on safety and an overabundance of fun! 

Amanda McGowan

Early Childhood Education Center Director and the Director of Camp By The Sea: Shacar Division

As a long time South Jersey resident, Amanda grew up in Margate and attended Camp by the Sea as a child. Amanda has a wealth of knowledge in the early childhood field as well as robust experience working with non-profit organizations.  Amanda offers her love for children and dedication to providing the best experience to all as our new Early Childhood Education Center Director.

Justin Romolini

Justin is a year-round Margate resident. When it comes to Camp By the Sea he’s basically been there his whole life. Justin attended camp here as a kid and has worked at the JCC for the past 6 summers as well as throughout the year for various mini camps and enrichments programs for students attending school virtually. He currently has one semester left at Stockton University where he is majoring in Psychology and minoring in Childhood Studies. A fun fact about Justin is that he somehow owns 21 hats! He is most looking forward to getting to meet all the campers, parents, and counselors and having a fun and safe 8 weeks.

Shelby Stoltz

Shelby Stoltz, of  Bucks County PA recently graduated from Penn State University. While at Penn State she studied Early Childhood Education with a minor in Special Education. She looks forward to beginning her career as a teacher  upcoming school year and is very familiar with how special camp is and all the wonderful friendships that are formed. In her free time, she loves to work out and spend time with friends and family. A fun fact about Shelby is that she studied abroad in Italy when Covid-19 spiked. Shelby is looking forward to spending this summer getting to know each and every one of you

Karyn Solari

Karyn Solari is a year – round Brigantine resident and Teaching Assistant at the JCC’s Early Childhood Education Center.  This is her third year working at Camp By The Sea and is excited to take on a new role, supporting the Camp staff with in the Shacar Division.  She is looking forward to seeing old friends and making news ones!

Hannah Mayer

Hannah Mayer is from Blue Bell, PA and spends her summers here in Margate, NJ.  She was a camper at URJ Six Points Sports Academy and URJ Camp Harlam as well as a Counselor at Camp Cape May.  She attends York College of Pennsylvania, majoring in Recreation and Leisure Administration with an emphasis on Community Recreation.  A fun fact about Hannah is that she loves flamingos. She is looking forward to creating a positive and safe environment for the campers and staff at Camp By The Sea this summer!

Suzanne Abbot

Suzanne Abbot is a full time Teacher at the JCC’s Early Childhood Education Center and had taught in both preschool and kindergarten classrooms.  She received her teaching degree from Radford University in Virginia and a Master’s in Education from Widener University, PA. She hopes to make your child’s camp experience a fun and exciting one as campers embark on new adventures. Some of her favorite things include spending time with her children, being outdoors, playing soccer, laughing, teaching, candy, coffee, and the color yellow! Suzanne is looking forward seeing  ALL the campers this summer!

Mike Schultz

Mike loves to watch and play sports, listen to and play music, camping, riding waves and baking.

He is currently enrolled in the teacher education program for Elementary Education at Stockton University.

Mike is most excited to see our littles ones filled with joy all summer and support the counselors as they hone in on their leadership skills throughout the summer. Fun Fact, Mile use to own a HAIR SALON!
